I can’t stand it! I have to get the Nikon D80, it’s time to go digital.
The F2 Photomic has been called the best manual camera ever made. It’s heavy, solid and takes incredible film based pictures. My only downside is the built-in light meter, although the built-in is good, if you own a camera like this you should be using a hand-held light meter and I don’t have one.
I will miss the sheer solidness of this camera. You get the impression it would survive WW3. The newer cameras by Nikon are light and truly advanced in the technology that assists you in taking pictures and I really appreciate that. I wish they would put unnecessary weight in the new products just so your $1,000.00 ++ purchase would feel weighty! I pine for the old days of camera making. The glass in the lenses Nikon made for these cameras was every bit as good as today’s lenses and the rings were made of metal. Did they save that much money by switching to plastic? Curses on market forces in this case, bring back the metal!
Oh well, we’ll see how it goes on ebay. If she sells, I’ll miss her, she’s served me well.
